Ready to Dine in Doha?
September 8th, 2010
A site our web designers really enjoyed working on and one of our latest creations, Dining in Doha.
This is a great site, that we had the freedom to design pretty much as we wanted. The graphic design this time was developed by Luke and has to be said, it’s a great piece of work. The black background and bright colours work well and bring the site to life.
Users can search for restaurant reviews by food type, area or name as well as add their own thoughts and reviews of restaurants they have visited.
Google Maps has been integrated into the site allowing users to find the exact location of each restaurant too, which is a nice touch.
Eddy has done a great job in project managing the site development and we are sure our client is just as happy as we are. As a website redesign how can we tell the project was a success? In the first 3 days of the new site going live, it received 1700 unique visitors which is unprecidented as it was getting that only every 2 weeks before!
Licence to PR
September 8th, 2010
We could get really creative for this new site, recently launched. Licence to PR wanted to present their 60 second pitch on the homepage so we had to find a way to do this in an imaginative way. Check out the site to ssee how we did it.
The graphic design of the site was developed by Craig, who as usual we think has done a first class job and managed to bring in all the desired design aspects very nicely.
Our web designers have used some clever for the 60 second pitch as well as developing a content management system for our client to update the site content whenever they like in real-time.
Thanks to Stewart for project managing the site design and development, another successful project of his!
Great Place To Work
September 8th, 2010
Want to know which place is a great place to work? Check out one of our latest web designs and you’ll be in the know.
Peppercorn has created a great site, graphic design by Luke that allows our client to update all of the content on the pages using a content management system that we custom developed. Our client has full control over text formatting and images within the pages, as well as control over the text that appears in the right hand column of each page.
Timescales were tight for this and meeting them was a challenge but overall we think the site looks great and includes everything our client asked for.
Again, hats off to Eddy and our web designers for developing this website.
Sport Search
September 8th, 2010
Summer 2010 has been a very busy time for Peppercorn with seven website launches! One of these was Sport Search, a great new site that allows sports clubs, coaches, officials, sports teachers offering lessons, sports halls and facilites, as well as members of sports clubs all the register in one central place and find each other. The benifits of the site to the sports world are huge as this will be the site where they can all connect and keep in touch.
Thegraphic design of the site was developed by Craig who gave the site a clean look and feel making it very easy for the user to find their way around and register for what they are looking for.
For our web designers it was a challenge to get the various groups, account types and the different types of registration data together and then develop a search that was showing all the correct results but as always, we managed it.
Lastly, there is a content management system for our client to log in a access all the registered users and user types and make any changes to the site that need to be done.
Well done to Eddy for project managing the development of the site, it’s a job well done. Check out the website and let us know what you think.

August 12th, 2010
Recently launched House on the Rock, developed by Peppercorn, is a new website for a Christian fellowship organisation based in London. The site allows users to see up coming events and latest news as well as more information on the community.
The graphic design of the site was kept simple using light, pale colours to show a refreshing clean site that allows easy navigation for the user. The client can update the whole site using a content management system that was custom developed by our web designers.
The site was coded using PHP/MySQL. Click here to check it out.
School of Thought
April 1st, 2010
Peppercorn is proud to announce the launch of a new site “School of Thought”.
This website allowed us to get very creative indeed as the target audience is young people and students. The site had to be vibrant, colourful and make an impact on the homepage loading. Our web designers had to work hard to make it happen.
Luke worked on the graphic design of the site and researched similarly styled sites already on the Internet. After discussing with the client what they wanted from the design Luke began sketching and playing with some ideas, colours and themes and the outcome is exactly what the client wanted:
The homepage has a video linked in from YouTube which the client can change or update any time using the content management sytem.
Gerald coded the site using PHP/MySQL and included a content management system allowing the client to update the website content whenever they like.

Rent to Buy
March 12th, 2010
Peppercorn has recently completed and made live a new site for www.renttobuy.co.uk. The site allows users to add their own properties to the site in order to receive leads and enquiries from potential tennants. Renters are able to browse the site and search for properties in their area.
As the web designers for this project we had to ensure the homepage was clear and easy to understand for all users. 4 properties on the homepage allow the client to list important properties and also show users within seconds of arriving at the site what the site offers.
Navigating deeper into the site and searching for property, displays clear results that will allow the user to review and look at more details of properties that interest them.
Finally, if the user wishes, they can make an enquiry about the property.
The site has been developed using PHP/MySQL and has a complete Content Management Sytem allowing the client to update the content and view members details at any time.
Peppercorn to Prototype Websites
December 22nd, 2009
Peppercorn is now using a new prototyping tool to develop front-end and CMS areas of websites it is developing. By developing sites in a usable, clickable format for our clients to view, feedback, amend and approve we are sure this will make the development process easier for us as web designers and our clients as they will be able to see exactly what is to be delivered in a working model before its coded.
Peppercorn always strives to ensure customer satisfaction and is always looking for new ways to improve our service. Any feedback is appreciated!
Google Page Speed
December 8th, 2009
There has been talk recently that Google will soon be using website speed as a major factor in determining search placement. While this is not yet confirmed there is a new tool available from Google that may help in making your site run even faster. Almost all of the points that will need to be optimised will have to be completed by your web designer.
Downloaded Google PageSpeed using the link below:
http://code.google.com/speed/page-speed/download.html
In addition to this, Google has now outlined its own best practices for website development here:

Web designers should be aware of these new practices especially if SEO is part of the website development.
Peppercorn’s 10th Birthday
December 5th, 2009
2009 was the year to celebrate Peppercorns’ 10th birthday. A new site was launched this week at www.peppercorn.co.uk to celebrate the occasion with a new portfolio page showcasing our latest and best work over the last 10 years.
Its been a long road as web designers that has seen us develop hundreds of websites, big and small, online games and many other online applications. We’ve meet many people, heard many ideas and made many of these ideas reality.
For the next ten years we look forward to meeting more new people and pushing the limits of the Internet to make more ideas reality.
